THE VICTOR’S MENTALITY 14 (When the devil strikes)

In the previous article , I introduced the third part of this series, which focuses on the armor we are to put on during spiritual warfare. It was important to remind ourselves what spiritual warfare truly is. Let me summarize what spiritual warfare is all about in one sentence: spiritual warfare is the devil’s attempt to shift us from our spiritually blessed position to something ephemeral, material, natural, or animalistic. It’s crucial to understand this because 2 Corinthians 2:11 says:“Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” (2 Corinthians 2:11 NKJV). The devil isn’t attacking our spiritual blessings themselves—he cannot dare, as they are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, as Ephesians 1:13-14 tells us. What he tries to attack is our position toward them, our view of them, and our mindset about them. That’s why we need the armor described in Ephesians 6. Before I start diving into the armor, I want to discuss when the devil strikes. Yes, ...

THE VICTOR’S MENTALITY 13 (Understanding Spiritual Warfare)

For those who have followed this series from the beginning, you’ll recall that we divided it into three parts: 1. The kind of power that resides in us 2. Unmasking who our opposition is By God’s grace, we’ve explored the first two parts, and they are all available on this blog site (The Victor’s Mentality parts 1-12). Today, we begin a new part (which I believe will be quite extensive), focusing on the armor we put on to resist this opposition. Let’s start by returning to our foundational text in Ephesians chapter 6. For today’s article, we’ll focus on verse 13 as we introduce this part:“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:12-13 NKJV) Let me begin by saying to every believer: you are ...

THE VICTOR’S MENTALITY 12 (THE DEVIL IS ALREADY JUDGED)

We’ve been exploring the second phase of our series (The Victor’s Mindset), which focuses on who the devil really is. We’ve already considered four revelations about the devil given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ Himself:  1. He is a murderer  2. Liar  3. He does not stand in the truth  4. He has already been defeated   Now, I’ll share the fifth revelation: THE DEVIL IS ALREADY JUDGED!   I believe this is a vital revelation we must all consider. Jesus told us in John 16:11 that the ruler of this world is judged: “of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.” (John 16:11 NKJV) When we look at Revelation 20:10, we see the outcome of that judgment: “The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” (Revelation 20:10 NKJV)   Some people, when they hear this scripture, quiver and begin to fear Judgm...

THE VICTOR’S MENTALITY 11 (The devil is a defeated foe)

We’ve been discussing Jesus’ revelation about the devil: his true identity, position, and stance. We’ve already seen that he is a murderer, a liar, and someone who does not stand in the truth. Today, we’ll explore another revelation, which is particularly fitting given the season we’re in—Easter. The third revelation is: The devil is a defeated foe. Glory to Jesus! If there’s ever a time to be reminded of the devil’s defeat, it’s now. Jesus Himself declared this truth, that the devil is defeated. Let’s look at Luke 10:17-18:“Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.’ And He said to them, ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.’” (Luke 10:17-18 NKJV)  Let me briefly share the background of this scripture and clarify some misconceptions. Jesus had sent the seventy out two by two, giving them His power and authority to cast out demons. They fully utilized the authority of Christ imparted to them. In verse 18, Jesus...

THE VICTOR’S MENTALITY 10 (The devil does not stand in the truth)

In today’s article, I’ll continue from where we left off last week. Last week, we began exploring who our opposition, the devil, is. I shared that we need to receive the revelation Jesus gave about the devil. This Understanding will enable us to walk in everyday victory over every opposition. As I’ve mentioned  in previous articles, we aren’t fighting to win—Jesus has already won every battle for us. Our fight is to remain in the victory Jesus secured for us because the devil is always out there, to sell lies to steal someone away from their victory. Last week, we saw the devil as a liar and murderer from John 8:44. Today, we’ll look at another revelation Jesus gave about the devil to help us carry on with the victor’s mentality: 2. He does not stand in the truth, and there is no truth found in him. This is another way of saying he is a liar, but from a different perspective:“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the...

THE VICTOR'S MENTALITY 9 (The devil is a Liar)

In this article, I will begin sharing about the second phase of our series: understanding who our opposition is. We’ve already explored the first phase, which focused on the type of strength we have and its source. Let’s revisit our reference text:   "Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11 NKJV)  It is crucial to know who our opposition is—the one who does everything possible to hinder you from walking in everyday victory. Many grace-based believers argue that it’s unnecessary to talk about the devil. Sure, we are not devil-conscious, but as ministers, there’s nothing wrong with presenting the devil the way Jesus and His Apostles did. My issue is with those who attribute to the devil what he does not possess. Nowhere in Scripture do Jesus or the Apostles describe the devil as having any power or authority. If we can see the devil as the Bible presents him, that alone is the victor’s mentality. Th...

THE VICTOR'S MENTALITY 8 (Implications of being strong in the Lord 2)

In the last article , I shared the implications of being strong in the Lord. Remember what led us here: we are exploring one of the sub-division series, which focuses on understanding the kind of strength and power that works in us and identifying the source of this strength. The second implication I’ll share in this article regarding being strong in the Lord is as follows:
 2. It means you go from strength to strength—that is, you increase in strength as you go deeper into the Lord. Let me illustrate this with a physical example:
The strength of an infant cannot be compared to the strength of a growing child, say between ages 5 and 12. Likewise, the strength of a growing child cannot be compared to that of a teenager, and a teenager’s strength cannot be compared to that of a young adult. This is the same progression we experience when we consistently look to the Lord as our strength. A man who sees the Lord as his strength will never reach a point of complacency because he discovers...

THE VICTOR’S MENTALITY 7 (Implications of Being Strong in the Lord)

In today’s article, we take a step further as we begin to round up the first part of this series: the source and kind of strength we have. Let’s revisit our anchor scripture: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” — Ephesians 6:10 (NKJV) 1. To Be Strong in the Lord Means Recognising That Jesus Is Lord. This is crucial. Many people see Christ in different ways—some as a healer, deliverer, provider, or even as Saviour. While all these are true, recognising Him as Lord is key to gathering strength for our journey. Our anchor verse specifically says, “Be strong in the LORD.” One reason Christianity today seems to lack the power it had in the early Church is that many want to use Jesus—for wealth, healing, deliverance, or fame—but are unwilling to submit to His Lordship. Let’s consider Peter’s sermon: “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” — Acts 2:36 (NKJV). In the ...

THE VICTOR’S MENTALITY 6 [The Pool of Strength]

We’ve been discussing The Victor’s Mentality, and this is the sixth episode. In this article, we will take it a step further from where we stopped last article . Previously, we discussed our source of strength and established the truth that God is the source of our strength—He is the One who equips us for every task. Kindly refer to the link below to get a full glimpse of what we shared in the last article . In previous articles, I highlighted three important aspects to be aware of if you want to stay victorious. The first one, which we are currently discussing, is the source of your power/strength and the kind of power/strength you possess. In this article, I will share with you what I call The Force of Strength—or if you prefer, The Pool of Strength. Let’s go back to our reference scripture: “Now, my beloved ones, I have saved these most important truths for last: Be supernaturally infused with strength through your life union with the Lord Jesus. Stand victorious with the force of H...

THE VICTOR'S MENTALITY 5 [Your source of Power 2]

In the last article , I began discussing the first part of the mentality we need to have: Our source of power/strength and the kind of strength we possess. I established that God is the source of our physical strength, mental fortitude, and spiritual power. We need to understand that God is interested in our entire well-being, not just our spiritual life. Yes! You can draw strength from the Lord for your daily tasks. God desires to supply you with strength in your mind , which serves as fortitude to keep you steadfast. When we examine Adam , we see that he named millions of species of animals without stress, He displayed remarkable emotional intelligence . Yet, we often become easily exhausted after accomplishing little, give up quickly, and struggle under tedious circumstances. Sometimes, our minds become cluttered, which leads to headaches and heartaches. But let me tell you this: God supplies strength to endure daily challenges while remaining emotionally and mentally balanced. He...

THE VICTOR’S MENTALITY 4 (Your Source of Power)

In the previous article , we started looking at the mentality of victors. I deduced from Ephesians 6:10-20 three important awarenesses we need to wear correctly if we will stay victorious: 1. Your source of power and the kind of power at work in you. 2. The kind of enemy that is trying to oppose you. 3. The armor to put on when the opposition comes. Today, we will start with the first part:1. Your source of power and the kind of power that is at work in you. Paul was talking about an heir who owns possessions in Galatians 4:1-2 , but because he is a child and has not come to the awareness of what he possesses, he could not enjoy it by himself. Also, we must be aware of the kind of power that works in us so we can always leverage it—not just knowing the kind of power, but also the source. This is the first thing we must put on if we will stay a victor. The Christian fight is not a fight to begin to do something extra, but to stay and remain in the freedom that Christ has ...

THE VICTOR'S MENTALITY 3 {Introduction to Victor's Mentality}

Today, we will start looking at the introduction to Victor's mentality . Our main reference scripture as we consider this will be Ephesians 6 . I trust God that He will enable us to glean from that chapter and that at the end of the series, we will be equipped with the victor's mentality, in Jesus' name. Amen. So, please endeavor not to miss any part of the series. We are indeed victorious, and nothing can be more true than that—God in Christ has won us the victory. "And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church" Ephesians 1:22 (NIV). And truly we are victorious! Yet, I want you to understand that the defeated enemy does not want you to know about your victory in Christ . He does not want you to be conscious of it. He aims to prevent us from enjoying the victorious life we have in Christ. There is an enemy out there that wants to deceive us so that the effect of God's life will not manifest in us and throu...

THE VICTOR'S MENTALITY 2 [Two-Fold Victory over Sin 2]

Last week, we started a new series: The victor's mentality. Before we go into the mindset of a victor, the Holy Spirit prompted us to reflect on our victory as believers. I shared humanity's primary issue—sin—and how it was eradicated for us. It is this sin that the devil was leveraging to inflict pain on us. But I am glad to tell you that it is over. The debt of sin has been paid. Glory to Jesus! We began to recognize our two-fold victory over sin, which are: 1. Victory over the guilt of sin 2. Victory over the power of sin We must understand this distinction! Many people only understand the first part and not the second part or vice versa. Embracing victory over the guilt of sin while neglecting victory over the power of sin will hinder your ability to walk free from sin’s control. Such a person would consistently live a life of spiritual defeat. These are a set of people the devil has lied to that they cannot be free from particular habits. The devil tells them, "Well, ...

THE VICTOR'S MENTALITY 1 [Two-Fold Victory over Sin 1]

Before I go fully into this topic, I want to let as many who have placed their faith in Jesus know that they are truly victorious. You need to know that you are a Victor before you can begin to wear the victor's mentality. For instance, you cannot just wear a king's attire when you have not been crowned a king. 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 (NIV): "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." I want you to know that because of what Jesus has done on the cross, He has given us victory over the enemies of our soul, which include sin, death, and the devil, who holds power over death. The root of man's suffering, including poverty and disease, is sin. That is what the devil was leveraging to torment us and afflict us. Glory to Jesus, for Christ fully atoned for our sins. He destroyed the influence of the devil over us an...

The Fruit of the Spirit 36 (How to Walk in Joy 4)

How to Walk in Joy- Part 4 In recent articles, I have shared how we can live joyfully and walk in the victory that God has given us—Joy! The first point I emphasized is the need to open our hearts to the Holy Spirit. Since He is the one who produces joy in the heart of a believer, we must allow Him to do what only He can do. I also discussed how to cultivate the presence of the Holy Spirit, highlighting three key elements: determination, focus, and passion. In this article, I will share the fourth and final element: energy. "You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore." – Psalm 16:11 (NKJV) From this scripture, we understand that there is a path that leads to joy in God's presence—a path that God has revealed to us through His Spirit, the path of life. As those who have received the life of Christ, we have unlimited access to God's presence, and we can choose to remain in it forever. If we are no...
