THE VICTOR'S MENTALITY 1 [Two-Fold Victory over Sin 1]

Before I go fully into this topic, I want to let as many who have placed their faith in Jesus know that they are truly victorious. You need to know that you are a Victor before you can begin to wear the victor's mentality. For instance, you cannot just wear a king's attire when you have not been crowned a king.

1 Corinthians 15:55-57 (NIV):
"Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

I want you to know that because of what Jesus has done on the cross, He has given us victory over the enemies of our soul, which include sin, death, and the devil, who holds power over death. The root of man's suffering, including poverty and disease, is sin. That is what the devil was leveraging to torment us and afflict us.

Glory to Jesus, for Christ fully atoned for our sins. He destroyed the influence of the devil over us and, consequently, the effect of death. Now the devil does not have any legal ground to torment or afflict us. His power and influence over your life have been destroyed. He has been stripped of authority and power!

I want to discuss our triumphant victory over sin. Understanding this victory in Christ enables believers to live victoriously over the effects of sin, such as poverty, sickness, and failure. I will illustrate the beautiful dual victory God achieved over sin in the Old Testament through signs and symbols of reality. If a man can understand this twofold victory, he will live a life that glorifies God and will be able to fulfill his purpose.

What are these two-fold victories:
1. You have victory over the guilt of sin.
2. You have victory over the power of sin.

Through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, believers are justified before God and no longer stand condemned (Romans 8:1). The guilt of sin, which once separated us from God, is removed because Jesus bore it on our behalf. Glory to Jesus!

Leviticus 16:7-10 (NIV):
"Then he is to take the two goats and present them before the Lord at the entrance to the tent of meeting. He is to cast lots for the two goats—one lot for the Lord and the other for the scapegoat. Aaron shall bring the goat whose lot falls to the Lord and sacrifice it as a sin offering. But the goat chosen by lot as the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the Lord to be used for making atonement by sending it into the wilderness as a scapegoat."

Leviticus 16:15 (NIV):
"He shall then slaughter the goat for the sin offering for the people and take its blood behind the curtain and do with it as he did with the bull's blood: He shall sprinkle it on the atonement cover and in front of it."

For atonement for sin, God told them to bring two goats; one will be slain, and the blood will be sprinkled on the mercy seat. The other will be that the offerer will put his hand on it and transfer all the sin and the effect of it over time onto the goat, and the goat will be sent to the wilderness.

The mercy seat is where God sits to dispense mercy. But because of sin, man could not experience the presence of God; instead, what man experiences is judgment and condemnation. But once the blood is sprinkled on the mercy seat, the presence of God is present to dispense mercy instead of judgment; blessing instead of curses. The offerer then could experience the blessings of God's presence.

This is true in the New Testament, that because of the shed blood of Jesus, the presence of God is now eternally accessible to you. You can come in boldly without any sense of guilt to receive all the blessings that come with His presence (Hebrews 4:16 KJV). You don't just approach the throne of grace with a beggarly attitude. There is a posture you must come with; the posture comes with boldness.

I don't need to know your past or present actions. The precious blood of Jesus ensures God's presence is always available to you. Just put your faith in Him to experience it.

Next week we will continue to share more about this beautiful victory. But I want to tell someone here, don't shy away from His presence. Don't let the devil deceive you!

Prayerfully meditate on these words. See you next week.
