THE VICTOR’S MENTALITY 12 (THE DEVIL IS ALREADY JUDGED)
We’ve been exploring the second phase of our series (The
Victor’s Mindset), which focuses on who the devil really is. We’ve already considered four
revelations about the devil given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ Himself:
1. He is a murderer
2. Liar
3. He does not stand in the truth
4. He has already been defeated
Now, I’ll share the fifth revelation: THE DEVIL IS ALREADY JUDGED!
I believe this is a vital revelation we must all consider. Jesus told us in John 16:11 that the
ruler of this world is judged: “of
judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.” (John 16:11 NKJV)
When we look at Revelation 20:10, we see the outcome of that
judgment: “The devil, who deceived
them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the
false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
(Revelation 20:10 NKJV)
Some people, when they hear this scripture, quiver and begin
to fear Judgment Day. If this is you, you’ve either not been born again or have
received another gospel, one that isn’t of grace. The gospel that Paul and the
Apostles preached anticipates this day, when the devil and all his cohorts will
no longer have influence on the earth.
The only reason you should be concerned about Judgment Day
as a believer isn’t about yourself, but because of your neighbours, friends,
families, colleagues, allies, and the entire world of humans who haven’t put
faith in Christ. This will be their end too, and that should cause us to
mourn—that is, be concerned and start doing something about it, which is to
preach the gospel.
So yes, Satan is like a ticking time bomb, fully aware that
his time is short. As believers, we also need to be aware of this, as
Revelation 12:12 puts it: “Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in
them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come
down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”
(Revelation 12:12 NKJV). The
devil’s story is already written: defeated, judged, and doomed. You need to
know this!
You see, the Bible says we should rejoice, O heavens. So we
are part of those who should be rejoicing because of the judgment already
passed upon the devil! You might wonder, but the Bible says it’s people in
heaven who should rejoice. Yes, and that includes you! If you’re a believer,
you are heaven-bound. That’s where you are—a place where the presence of God
abounds. That’s your dwelling place. The devil cannot get hold of you there.
Unfortunately, for those still earthly, the devil is running overtime on them.
Satan is like a ticking time bomb, trying to cause as much
chaos as he can before he’s finally thrown into the lake of fire. That’s why he fights so hard—not because he can
win, but because he wants to destroy as many lives as possible before his end
comes. Therefore, as believers,
you should not be distracted because there
are many distractions out there through various vices, systems, and structures.
You cannot afford to be distracted by the devil’s tricks.
The reason he throws many things in the path of believers
isn’t just to cause them to disbelieve their faith in Christ and lose their
salvation, but also so believers won’t fulfill God’s given goal and mission for
their lives—which is to reconcile men to God’s kingdom, as 2 Corinthians 5:18
puts it:“Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through
Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,” So, please don’t be distracted—for your
generation, for your unborn generation. We cannot afford to let people around
us go to hell by losing focus and shifting our eyes to the distractions
happening around us.
Many people have forsaken and forgotten God’s call over their
lives because of mundane things—money, fame, power. All these might be good, but if it’s at the expense of what the
Lord has called you to do, then that’s a destructive path. God is calling us to
repentance today and to consider His ways.
Have you been distracted?
“Now I saw a new
heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed
away. Also there was no more sea. And God will wipe away every tear from their
eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no
more pain, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:1, 4 NKJV)
“Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new
heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.” (2 Peter 3:13 NKJV)
Apostle Peter confirms in his Epistle that the Apostles look
forward to this event: Just
imagine an earth without the devil, death, and his influence—without fear,
insecurity, disaster, poverty, and many of the impacts of death.
So you need to know Satan is fighting an already lost
battle. He knows Christ’s Kingdom is coming in full glory, and his place in it
is none. So now, he works overtime to blind, distract, and deceive—because his
ultimate goal is to ensure people miss out on God’s eternal purpose for them.
But glory to Jesus, if you are a believer, you are secured in Christ.
The question is, are you one? Have you put your faith in the
death and resurrection of Jesus Christ? He loves you, and that’s why He gave
His life so that we can enjoy God’s presence forever.
God bless you.
