Characteristics of the word of God 2 (The Victor's Mentality 50)

My beloved readers, I welcome you once again to this week’s article. I believe by the grace of God that we shall all be blessed as we read in Jesus’ name. In the last article , we began looking at the characteristics of the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, from Hebrews 4:12: “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Today, we will continue from that third point: The Word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword. Im the last article, I said the Word of God is designed to touch the deepest part of our being, not just the surface. It is not meant to massage our ego or conform to what we want. Instead, the Bible describes it as a two-edged sword. You don’t handle such a sword however you like, rather, it handles you according to the truth of the gospel. The Word is designed to put our flesh under...

Characteristics of the word of God (Victor's Mentality 49)

Welcome to today’s article. My sincere prayer is that we will all be blessed by God’s Word. Last week, we began a new segment in our series, The Victor’s Mentality, and our focus is on the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. We’ve been studying the different pieces of armour God has empowered us with so as to keep winning in life, and right now, our focus is on the sword of the Spirit. “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:17 (NKJV) Today, we will take a step further and look at the characteristics of the sword of the Spirit, using Hebrews 4:12 as our reference. “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) One thing that helps in understanding the book of Hebrews is knowing the context in which it was written. The epis...

Sword that the Spirit weilds (Victor's Mentality 48)

It is again a pleasure and a privilege to share God's word with you. I sincerely pray that your life will be blessed in Jesus’ name. In today's article, we are starting a new focus within the victor's mentality series, specifically the sword that the Spirit wields. Let us look at our reference text for this series: “And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.”   — Ephesians 6:17 (AMPC) When we examine the complete armor of a Christian believer as described in Ephesians 6, it becomes both fascinating and beautiful to recognise our identity as Christians.  Each piece of this armor: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of readiness of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit are intentionally provided to us by God so that we can remain victorious and continue winning in life. Every piece of God's armor shows us that our Christian life is not ...

Salvation viewed eschatologically 2 (The Victor's Mentality 47)

You’re welcome to today’s article reading. By God’s grace, I shall be continuing from where we stopped in the last article. Last week, I shared an eschatological view of salvation, and we saw what it means. So in today's article, we will look at why we must hold this view. What is the impact it has on us as Christian believers? 1. It stabilises our mind. In 1 Thessalonians 5:8, the bible says: “But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.” (1 Thessalonians 5:8 NKJV) The Bible presents this future hope as a helmet. A helmet guards the head. That talks about our mind, our faculty, the seat of our thinking. The place the devil often targets is the mind. Because if he can influence your thoughts, he can influence your perspective; and if he influences your perspective, he can affect your choices and actions. So this hope of our future salvation in Christ brings the mind to rest when we know that our future ...

Salvation viewed eschatologically (The Victor's Mentality 46)

You’re welcome to today’s article reading. By God’s grace, I shall be continuing from where we stopped in the last article. I have been sharing on the Helmet of Salvation as an armour we need to put on to keep winning in life and ministry. And in the last article, I shared how the Holy Spirit, through the instrumentality of the saving grace we have received, teaches and trains us to live soberly, godly, and righteously in this world. In today's article, we will be looking at the helmet of Salvation viewed eschatologically. “But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.” (1 Thessalonians 5:8 NKJV) When we view salvation eschatologically, which means salvation is not only about the present protection as I have shared previously, but it is also about our future assurance.  There are three dimensions we view salvation from: we have been saved (from the penalty of sin), we are being saved (from the power of s...
