Faith-driven Action (The Victor's Mentality 54)
I welcome every reader. It is a pleasure and a privilege to share God’s Word. It is my prayer that you shall be blessed by His Word.
I have been sharing ways of handling the Word of God.
We have talked about:
1. Through the heart,
2. With our mouth
The third way I will be sharing is through our hands.
When we talk about handling the Word through the instrumentality of the hand, what we are referring to is the practical expression, action, and application of the Word of God in our lives.
It is not enough to receive the Word in your heart and confess it with your mouth. There must be corresponding actions that reflect what you believe.
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” James 1:22
So when we are not doers of the Word, and we are only confessing it, according to Scripture, we are deceiving ourselves. You can confess the Word consistently and still remain unchanged if your actions do not align with it.
For instance, you declare healing over your body in a situation like malaria.
The moment you pray, your prayer must be accompanied by the conviction that God has heard you and that His Word is true. Now, how you act afterwards will reveal whether you are truly handling the Word with your hand.
It means you do not contradict your confession with fear, panic, or hopelessness. Your actions, your attitude, and your decisions begin to align with what you have believed.
When I came into this understanding, God helped me begin to walk in divine health. Whenever I declare God’s Word over my body, for instance, when I notice symptoms like malaria, I do not go back as though my prayers were not answered. I continue with my daily responsibilities and activities. I do not withdraw or sit down in defeat as though I am still sick. I refuse to give in to the consciousness of sickness. Instead, I carry on with my day in the consciousness of God’s Word at work in me.
Our actions must now be driven and engaged by faith.
From James 2:17: “Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”
James is not saying we replace faith with works, but he is saying that genuine faith will always produce corresponding actions. If there is no change in how you act, then what you call faith has not yet taken root.
When you truly believe, you begin to act differently. You make decisions differently. You respond to situations differently.
What are the ways we handle the Word with our hands?
1. By obeying the Word
Obedience is the first proof that the Word has truly entered your heart. It is one thing to hear the Word, it is another thing to respond to it.
We must always maintain the right posture towards the Word of God, which is obedience, and always have this perspective: “Lord, whatever You say, I will do.” And while obeying the Word of God, we must not approach it selectively. We do not choose what is convenient to obey and ignore the rest. Our heart must be yielded to the Word of God without negotiation.
And if there are areas in our lives where we are still struggling to obey the Word, that is not the time for excuses or self-justification. Rather, it is the time for humility. We need to acknowledge the gap and agree that God’s Word is right and that we are wrong. Then we yield ourselves to the Holy Spirit for help.
