Faith Life 44 (The responses of Faith)

Ayoola Fakeye

Hebrews 11:23

In Egypt, God's hand was on the children of Israel, being the chosen nation, and as a result, they were multiplying in all forms. Therefore, Pharaoh feels threatened by the people of Israel, and then he made a decree and published an edict; ordering every male child who has just been given birth to be thrown inside the river. This period was when Moses was born. Exodus 2

When Moses was born, the bible tells us that by Faith his parents hid Him. They were hiding the baby, not because they are afraid of the king's edict. Assuming they were afraid of the king’s ordering, they won’t have saved the baby, instead they will be conscious that they are not killed. Fear makes a man think and act selfishly, but faith makes a man act accordingly to God’s purpose and grace.

Let’s see the reason they took such a bold step of faith to save the child.

They hid the child because they saw he was a beautiful child. In Act 7:20, the Bible told us that Moses was exceedingly beautiful. Wow! This means the hand of the Lord was so evident in Moses’ life. And because His parents were walking in faith, they could see what others may not necessarily see. Through faith, they could understand the sign of God's purpose on their child.

Folks, until we see the beautiful working of Christ on the cross; until we see the sign of redemption on the Cross, we cannot respond in faith. The reason we don't respond in faith is that we don't see from God's perspective. Instead, we are overwhelmed by what the ‘Pharaoh’ of this world had said. If Moses’ Parents were occupied by what Pharaoh had decreed, they won’t even see anything the Lord is showing them about their baby.

In these present times, many believers are so much worried about the politics, the economy, the society, and these have inhibited us from seeing the beautiful hand of God in our lives. Some people have already concluded that they can’t progress in life and ministry because they are only focused on what the ‘Pharaoh’ of this present time has declared.

I pray that the Holy Spirit opens our eyes to see into the heart of God, how we are loved such that He sent His only Son to die the death of the cross so that we will not remain in the same position with sin, devil, and death. But through Jesus’ resurrection, we can be translated into the kingdom of God, having fellowship with the God-head. Only if our eyes can be open to seeing the beautiful hand of God on the cross, nailing sin, defeat, death, failure, curses, etc., then we will never be afraid as regards anything happening in this world. Instead, we will always want to take the steps of faith.

Moses’ parents responded in faith based on what God has revealed to them. Faith cannot be produced when there is no revelation. This is why the primary thing the Holy Spirit endeavours to do in a man’s life is to reveal Jesus and what He has done on His behalf to him. When this revelation is received, faith will be imparted alongside.

Practical Examples of Responses to Faith

When you believe that in Christ, you are blessed with His riches, and the Holy Spirit opens our hearts to this truth that he became poor so that through his poverty you can be rich. Such a person who has received this truth by revelation will not be stingy. He will not hold tight to the little he has, and he will not need to be persuaded to give to the needy, God's project, mission, and work. He won't need to be sermonized as regard to offering and tithing because he had received it by the revelation that God is his source and he won’t allow him to run dry.

When we see what Christ has done, it won’t be difficult to obey God's word in any area the Holy Spirit is pointing to us. The reason we will hold tight to what we have when there is an inspiration to give is that we’ve felt that this little is what will sustain us, thinking that when it is exhausted, then we will also be exhausted.

Friends, we need to start responding to things, people, and God by faith. That is, our responses should be borne out of the revelation of Christ.

In the next article, we shall see more practical examples of responses of Faith.

Stay blessed!
