Faith Life 40 (God has confidence in you 2)

 GRACE ABOUNDS BIBLE STUDY

THEME: FAITH LIFE OF CHRISTIAN BELIEVERS (Part 40)
TOPIC: God has confidence in you 2
SPEAKER: Peter Ayoola Fakeye (PAF)

In the previous article, we saw that God has confidence in you as believers because He has given us His life.

The problem we have is that we don't see ourselves the way God sees us. God sees us in Christ, so also, we need to start seeing ourselves in Christ.

Hebrews 11:17; I Corinthians 10:13

If you don't know what God has given to you; if you don't know the joy, peace, grace, and love of God for you which is Christ, then you will be subjugated by the enemy's rant, roar, and deceit.

We can hear the roaring of the devil loud and clear in our generation, but he cannot attack someone who is already died and now living with eternal life. This truth needs to sink in our hearts if we won't be carried away by the activities of the wicked one.

Therefore, The reason God has great confidence in you is that He has armed you with what you need. He is aware that what you have to live in victory is already in you. He is not a wicked father who sees what will claim the life of His children, and yet, He will say, ‘go through it’. Not at all.

This fundamental truth that we already have what it takes to live in Christ's victory must sink into every system of our being. Brethren, in this world, we are soldiers who are armed by God with the victory of Christ. So then we just need to be singing and rejoicing. I'm going to sing of the goodness of God.

In the Old Testament, when the children of Israel were to pass over to the other side at Jericho. There was this High and lofty Jericho’s wall as a hindrance. How then did they bring this wall down? God instructed them to match around it and on the seventh day, they should blow the trumpet. It doesn't seem to make sense, right? But after they matched, singing and rejoicing, the high and lofty wall fell before them. I believe God was giving us a pointer in the Old Testament that the way to live victoriously, such that the victory of Christ becomes experiential and evident in us, is by the singing of His goodness and mercy (Joshua 6:1-27)

When you sing of God's goodness—His Conquest over sin, death, and the devil on the cross and the life we now have in Christ, that’ll always put the devil in his place. Nobody wants to be reminded of his defeat.

Believers in Christ, no battle need to be fought again. Jesus has completed the work on the cross (John 19:28-30). The only fight now is to stay in faith as regards what Christ has done (1 Timothy 6:12). We must start putting the devil in his proper place. He supposes to be under our feet. He is the defeated one, and we are the victorious ones. Don't live your life as though you aren't aware that the devil is defeated already.

Another way we sing is by speaking in tongues.

One of the best ways to sing is to speak in tongue—that is what it means to roar in the Spirit. There will be a time that words will be exhausted such that you won't be able to lay hold on one. But tongues can't! What I have discovered from my experience is that the more you speak in tongues, the more the expression gets increased, and you get opened up, day in and day out (1 Corinthians 14:2)

Therefore, God is confident that we will live victoriously in this harmful world because He has poured out His Spirit upon the earth. God pouring out His spirit upon the earth is a fulfillment of this promise that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5)

Another way we sing is by saying what God has said about us (Colossians 3:16).

Over time, I have discovered that whenever we receive the word of God that pertains to a particular topic or situation, temptations always come to go contrary to the word of God we have received. What happens is that the Holy Spirit has already seen that temptation coming already. Being that He knows what you need to walk in the victory (which is His word), then He plays a fast one by giving you a word that will sustain and make you unshakable even amid temptation.

For instance, When the disciples were crossing the sea, Jesus gave them His word that He will meet them on the other side. If they had considered the word of Christ, they will need not be subjugated in fear and its torments (Mark 6:45-56). Furthermore, when Apostle Paul was challenged, he made us know that God gave him a word that His grace is sufficient for him and His strength is made perfect in his weakness. Believers, God's word is crucial, and we must never play down God's word. The reason many believers and churches are deceived is that they played down receiving God's word. They can hold 12 hours prayer chain and really, but they get bored when it comes to receiving God's word.

Brethren, we need to start receiving the word from The Holy Spirit. There is the word from Him for every moment and day. He knows what you will encounter each day, and so He fixes our focus with His word.

There is the word you need every season, and until we start receiving this word, we will not live confidently in this world.

How much do you desire to receive God's word?
