The fruit of the Spirit 29 (Love Never Fails)
The Fruit of the Spirit (Love Never Fails)
"Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away." I Corinthians 13:8 (NKJV)
In today's article, I will be sharing on "Love never fails." What does that even mean? It speaks of the eternality of the Father's love for us. When we have experienced such love, it should compel us to walk in this Agape love above all else.
Apostle Paul emphasized the importance of love, placing it at the top of the chain in any path or way of life we must live. With the help of the Holy Spirit, he used various words and illustrations to show and tell us how crucial it is to understand and walk the path of love. I encourage you to check the previous articles on love on this blog site to follow the discussion from its beginning.
Beloved, we need to start receiving God's love. We need to begin understanding and gaining deep insight into it so that we can manifest this same type of love with our neighbors and in our relationship with God.
The Bible tells us that love never fails. The word "fail" here means that the path of Agape love has no end. It is the unending and eternal relationship God has with man. Love is the very joy of heaven! That is why, above everything, we must prioritize love—receiving God's love and walking in the path of love.
What do I mean by receiving God's love?
I mean that we need to understand that nothing can quench the Father's love for us. Our hearts need to be assured that the Father's love is constant and consistent.
We have already seen the magnitude of God's love for us through our Lord Jesus. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 (NIV). This love will take eternity to fully comprehend, and that's why we need to start understanding it. Every day, we must ponder it, think about it, appreciate it, and celebrate it. Our hearts need to be aroused by it. We must allow it to motivate and inspire us. This is what it means to receive God's love. Beloved, nothing compares to walking in God's love. We must desire it above every other gift.
For instance, Paul talks about prophecy in 1 Corinthians 13:8-10 (NKJV): "Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away."
As great as prophecy is, with God giving His people His word to edify His church and keep us focused. However, after the church has been taken up (via the rapture), we will no longer need edification or guidance. Therefore, as much as you desire to walk a prophetic path, you must desire even more to walk in love.
Apostle Paul also talked about knowledge. Currently, we are still receiving knowledge—the various dimensions of the teachings of God's word. But do you know that this knowledge ends here? When we leave this earth, we will no longer need anyone to teach us about the kingdom and God, for we shall fully know (1 Corinthians 13:12).
He also speaks of speaking in tongues. All these are blessings from God and are very important for our growth and equipping in the Lord here on earth. Apostle Paul is not trying to undermine any of these blessings. What Paul was doing was putting everything in perspective. In whatever dimension of God you are operating or walking in, it must be in the path of love. Love must be the foundation that governs us and drives us.
Beloved, let us start receiving the love that of God, and we will see ourselves impacting our generation for God.
Beloved, God is love!
