Fruit of the Spirit 25 (Love believes all things)

Fruit of the Spirit 25 (Love believes all things) - 1 Corinthians 13:7
By Peter Ayoola Fakeye

In today's article, I will be sharing how Love believes in all things.

When you examine that statement, you then wonder, does it mean just to be gullible even when we have seen something that is false? No! That is not what it means. Therefore, let me delve into what it means.
Love "believes all things." That doesn't imply blind gullibility, where you accept everything as truth. Instead, it means that love is free from suspicion. Love is not suspicious!

Many people are just living their lives in suspicion. They are not free. For instance, if someone looks at them too much, they will say maybe she is a witch. They always read negative meanings into things. Their minds are always inclined toward the negative. That is not love.

Love is free! It doesn't carry a preconceived opinion about people. For instance, some men would say, “All ladies are the same.” So, they always suspect their fiancee when they are in a relationship. They don't believe her for what she says or does. Not because they have caught her doing something wrong but because they have not allowed the love of Christ to work on their heart to free them from suspicion.
Another example is that many already carry a preconceived opinion that mothers-in-law are always wicked. Even when the mother-in-law has not done anything wrong, they will always suspect her move. They always read the meaning of her move. Beloved, can we give up on every conception and perception that has held us suspicious of others and then allow God's love to free our hearts? A man that God's love is working in his heart will even redefine the wrong done to him and see it from a positive perspective.

A good example is Joseph, one of the sons of Jacob in the Bible. He told his brethren that what they did to him worked out as God's pathway to their deliverance (Genesis 45:5-7). No surprise, He could still walk with love with his brethren.

One of the reasons it was easy for Joseph to still fall in love with his brothers is because he put things in perspective. He tends to see things from a: to see things from a positive perspective.

Human nature has been disoriented and always tends to the negative. For instance, if I put on a white cloth with a small spot of dirt, I tell you, we will be quicker to see and pick out the fault than to see the 99.9% surface area that is white. It's vital to get this matter of perspective well so that the devil won't take advantage of our lives and use our emotions to get us to react wrongly in situations where we should have responded with Christ's love.

My dear readers, let love lead our thoughts towards everyone - both believers and unbelievers. We shouldn't treat people differently because of our biases. We must start to see how wonderfully God has created us. We must stop seeing them after the flesh, or else we won't express the love God wants us to.
In conclusion, have we ever imagined how cruel we were against the Holy Spirit when we were in the world? But the Holy Spirit never stepped back for once in coming after us. Our actions never determined His actions towards us. We must also start trusting Him to help us relate to others the way God loves us. Of course, we can't help ourselves. Nevertheless, the Holy Spirit is ever present to enable us to walk in this type of Love- Agape.
