Faith Life 71 (The centrality of the Lamb 2)

 Ayoola Fakeye

As I conclude this  subject series of Faith, it is fascinating for me to remind you of the Love of the savior: How Jesus has loved us with eternal love, came to the earth, carried the cross of agony, and bled all on that cross. Now He is risen again and occupied the throne of the universe. What a dear, wonderful Savior is ours!

In the previous article, I presented the doctrine of the Lamb from St. Peter's epistle where we saw Jesus, the Lamb, as the center of all divine revelation. Through His work on the cross, His body became the magnet that brought the OT saints and the NT saints under the same family.

Now I announce; Jesus is not just the center but the circumference of divine revelation, the entirety of the revelation of God to man. He is the unifying theme that makes all the books in the bible one consistent whole. Hallelujah! I can never be tired of speaking about the Lamb that was slain for my redemption. Will you?

Apostle Peter continued His exposition about the Lamb of God. He says, who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory so that your faith and hope are in God” (1 Peter 1:21). That means, through JESUS, we can believe in God who raised Him from the dead. Without the substitutionary act of Jesus on the cross and the resurrection that proves that His sacrifice was perfect and complete, we cannot believe in God. And when a man does not believe in God, He does not have hope because Faith gives birth to Hope.

There must be faith before Hope can surface. Therefore, we have observed that after the third day of Jesus’ vicarious suffering on the cross, God raised Him from the dead, and now He lives forever in a glorified state. Beloved, if God did it for Jesus, then we rest assured that God shall change us also. Our vile body shall experience immortality.

It is enormous that we are enjoying glimpses of redemption here below as Christian believers. But that is not the perfect state God wants us to be in. The state where Jesus is the state God has destined for everyone who puts their faith in Christ. The state where our Spirit, soul, and body is perfected forever without sin. A state where nothing can attack our body, where we shall live in complete freedom over everything. And the only reason we could ever hope for this is that it has already happened to Christ. Therefore, if it has happened to Jesus, it shall happen to everyone who places his faith in Him.

On a final note about Apostle Peters revelation, He wrote that when Jesus was resurrected; He was glorified. Revelation 5:6-10 speak so clearly about the glorified Christ. God reveals to us that Jesus is presently sitting triumphantly on the universe's throne in Heaven. That makes me wonder why Christians are still afraid when our savior is in charge. Maybe we don't know, or perhaps we only have mental knowledge of it, and it might be that many don't even believe it at all. Whatever it is, I want you to know, dear Christian believers, that the slain Lamb is now the Lion that sits on the throne of the universe. He is the Lion of the tribe of David! Beloved, put yourself together to see the lofty Lord because God has exalted you concurrently with Him.

Finally, in the summary of the doctrine of the Lamb – Jesus Christ, we look back at the humiliation of the Lamb on the cross on the earth for our redemption; we look up to the Lamb that is exalted and enthroned on the throne of the universe in Heaven for our victorious living; and then we forward to the Lamb transcended forever in the new Heaven and new Earth for our consummation. The question then remains; is the lamb not central?” “Does He not supposed to be central, really in our hearts?” “Are we not supposed to cast our cares before Him?” “Are we not supposed to live for him and love on Him?” “Are we not supposed to put our entire confidence in Him?” “Is He not supposed to be the Lord and the Master?
