Faith Life 67 (Faith that transforms 3)

Ayoola Fakeye

In the previous article, we’ve seen the two transformations that took place in Rahab's life as a result of her faith.

 1. It makes her renounce her way of belief and align herself with God’s worldview.

2. Faith produces a transformation in her character.

Today, we shall consider the three other transformations in the life of Rahab as a result of her Faith.

 3. Faith in Christ will aid us to do nothing against the gospel but for the gospel.

Joshua 2:4 gives an account of how Rahab hid the spies. She turned her back on her people and defended the people of Israel. That was the result of the faith she have in the God of Israel, or else she might have exposed the spies. Beloved, your faith cannot be active in the Lord, and not be sold out for him. Fire will always be burning in your bone, ready to be an influence in your generation for the Lord. If that is not true about your life, then you need to check your faith, is it active in the Lord? (You can check the previous article to know what it means for faith to be active in the Lord)

To check your faith is to check your relationship with Christ. The proper way to relate with Christ is to relate with Him the way He has unveiled himself and not according to our experience; knowing that Christ is nothing like us in character. He is transcendent which makes Him the only man you should trust. Beloved, this Christ came to us in our wretchedness and die our death. We cannot truly see Christ and not be sold out to him.

This woman saw the Lord of Israel. She took him personally, and she was ready to betray her people for the Lord.

In my little experience as a Christian, I have seen people who profess themselves to be Christians causing chaos in the body of Christ. They work against it and are always on the look to disunite the body of Christ. They are always filled with criticism against the Church of Christ. Perhaps, this is your story, I want you to understand that there is grace available for you Christ, just plunge into it by Faith and you shall walk worthily.

 4. Faith in Christ transforms us to seek eternal rewards instead of mundane rewards.

For the woman, immediately she placed his faith actively in the Lord; her desire changed. Normally, harlots live for the present. They always want to satisfy their appetite. They live for what they can eat and get now. However, the moment she saw the Lord of Israel, she pleaded to be included with the people of God (Joshua 2:11).

She had known that the battle is won already by faith. She didn't ask for money from them to keep up her living. The moment we also placed our faith in the Lord, our orientation will change. The reason we run after mundane things, and have engulfed our hearts and sense of justice is that we don't believe in Christ. Jesus said, “seek you first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all other things shall be added” (Matthew 6:33). The reason we are not having space for the Lord is that we have too much room for frivolities.

 5. Faith in Christ will make us seek salvation for friends, family, and neighbors.

Generally, faith in Christ will make us so passionate about evangelism. For Rahab, she was not only pleading for herself, but she also pleaded for her family. She does not want her family to be consumed because she so believes that God's judgment is coming upon them. Do we even believe that those who do not come to Christ will perish eternally? Does that bother us at all? Do we wish to see our family, and friends in hell while we are in heaven? Friends, if we are not all out under God for evangelism, then our faith is not active in Him and His grace.

In conclusion, there is always grace available for us in Christ to walk accordingly. We just have to relate to it by Faith.
