THE SIGNIFICANCE OF GOD'S PRESENCE (PART 3)
“By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.” Hebrews 11:27
In this article, I shall continue to highlight the beautiful life of faith Moses lived. His decision to forsake Egypt was the result of the faith He has in the Covenant Lord. He never allowed the fear of Pharaoh to affect the decision because He realized that God's presence was constantly with Him. God's presence, which was invisible to His physical eyes, was more real than a pharaoh on the throne. That is what it means to realize that God's presence is with you; that you are assured of His presence even in the face of contrary things around you. What can give such assurance is that you know that the blood of Jesus has brought you into an eternal covenant and commitment with God. His responsibility to you is, “I will never leave nor forsake you.”
In the two previous articles, I have enumerated two things from Moses' faith life about what the realization of God's presence will do for us in the face of Pharaoh.
1. Raises our soul above the fear of man
2. Equip and inspires our soul with patience in the trials of life.
In this article, I will highlight the third point;
3. It inspires the soul with energy and perseverance for the difficulties of life.
Moses ran out of Egypt the first time out of fear, but when he left the second time with his people, He left without fear. It has already been taken care of. Irrespective of the task, what always makes the difference is the realization of God's presence that is with you.
Although, it never came easy for Moses as regards the responsibility of leading over three million Jews from Egypt to the promised land. Pharaoh refused to let go nine different times before the tenth miracle, the Passover. I believe that all the experiences Moses had with Pharaoh at every of his refusal were a means of God supplying boldness, energy, and confidence to him. God was always showing up to him for the next thing to do. Therefore, at every of his return to Pharaoh was a different man.
New Testament example
“And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
II Corinthians 12:7-9
This great apostle, PAUL, told the Corinthians church of his experience with a messenger of Satan that was like torment to him. I believe He was referring to a particular Human being that made Himself an agent of Satan in his life. He prayed three times for that opposition to remove. Alas! It remains there. But God came through for Him. The Lord told Him that His grace was sufficient for Him.
There are times when God will not remove Pharaoh on your way. But whether Pharaoh is out of the way or still in the way; be assured that His grace always abounds. His grace is always sufficient. That is the balm you need, no matter the condition. Whether the mountain is still in the way or you are in the valley, the grace of God will always meet you there.
Furthermore, this particular opposition on the way is to address a certain issue in our lives. For Paul here, this particular opposition serves to keep him humble.’ He said, “…lest I should be exalted above measure…” (vs12). He made those statements twice in the same verse. At times, those oppositions are there to show you that there are still numerous areas to take to God so He can supply grace.
It is not about running away from challenges or avoiding difficult people. I discovered that challenges reveal the state and position of our heart. There are things the Holy Spirit wants us to see about ourselves in that situation. Therefore, amid those situations, we can take advantage of it to trust the Lord to supply grace.
Whatever you are passing through, there is a constant and consistent response from God; it is His grace. In the middle of that sickness, there is a supply of grace! There is always grace/strength available in the Lord. But He wants us to owe it all to Him and, by faith in Christ, to receive His strength. That was what kept Moses going all along, despite the opposition.
Beloved, without the grace of God, you will be worn out. Come to receive Grace as you put your faith in Jesus. The Lord be with you in Jesus' name. Amen!
