FAITH THAT RESTS ON GOD'S ESTIMATE
“By faith, he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them.” Hebrews 11:28
The word ‘kept’ from the scripture above is rendered in the Greek lexicon as ‘Hath kept.’ It is a perfect tense verb. The implication of this is that the keeping of the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood was not what Moses considered only for the moment, but it was what He instituted and established.
Another thing to note from the scripture is that the Bible attributes the keeping of the Passover and sprinkling of blood to Moses' Faith, even though it was not only Moses that observed it. This implies that Moses' faith in the paschal lamb inspires the children of Israel to also follow Moses' order.
As a leader, the way you can effectively lead people in the kingdom is by walking in faith. Have you been given responsibility in kingdom service like Moses? Your success will not be a function of your leadership skills or experiences but a result of faith in the Paschal lamb. Therefore, If you are not in faith, you will be very misleading! You can drive the whole congregation to the wrong destination if you are not in a faith relationship with Christ. Faith relationship humbles you of self and magnifies Christ and what He has done.
The entire action of three million Jews was attributed to just a man’s faith. What an influence! You don't need to start making excuses, rather start relating with God based on your faith in Christ, and it will affect how we respond to people and things and consequently, how people and things respond to us.
Now seeing the scripture through the lens of Christ.
Do you know it is Christ's faith that saves us all? Our redemption can be attributed to Christ's faith. When He was here on the earth to fulfill God's demand for our sins, His faith was solely in His Father. He believed that when He died the death of the cross, the Father will raise Him. It was Christ’s faith that was aromatized into us when we heard the word of redemption. This gave us confidence also to come under the blood of Christ. Glory to Jesus, He saved us.
Exodus 12:21-28: To carnal knowledge, the Passover won't make any sense. That is why the bible tells us that the cross is foolish to those that perish (1 Corinthians 1:18) Perhaps, the cross has ever made sense to you, it is because you have been affected by the faith of Jesus.
Moses influenced the entire Israelites with His Faith in the Paschal lamb. You can also influence your surroundings by standing on Jesus’ Faith; by professing and living in the light of the redemption on the cross.
The children of Israel deserved to be judged as much as the Egyptians. They would have been judged as much as the Egyptians, if not for the blood of the Pascal lamb that covers them. How do I know? If they won't have been judged, then the application of the blood is not needed. But God told Moses to institute the Passover. That is God's estimate and measure, to save the children of Israel. They would have been smitten as much as the Egyptians were smitten because they were sinners altogether. But the father places value on the Paschal lamb’s blood, a type of Jesus' blood. The father is only moved with His Son’s blood that was shed for the remission of sin.
Under the Old Covenant, the paschal lamb was God's evaluation for their safety. Beloved, this is also God's evaluation for you; the blood of Jesus Christ.
As I conclude, Hebrews 11:26 informs us that Moses had already seen the revelation of Christ's sacrifice on the cross. So, He instituted the Passover regarding Christ's sacrifice. Moses didn't just see the Passover as a temporary fix; as what they needed to observe just to be free from Egyptians, as God had said. But He saw it as a permanent fix. He wanted it to be their way of life; the culture and tradition of the people. This was the reason He instituted and established it.
Many see the cross as a temporary fix and not a lifelong relationship. For instance, numerous people come to fellowship and relationship with Christ when they only have a challenge. They just see the cross (God's evaluation for our safety) as a temporary fix. They have not seen it as life, culture, and kingdom tradition. This is the reason many people's faith is not active.
God placed the penalty for our sins on Jesus when he was crucified on the cross. Therefore, we need to start seeing ourselves in this light. We can now enter into God's presence and stay permanently as a result of the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. The question is what are you still doing outside?
