Faith Life 37 (Proving of Faith 3)
Kindly go through the previous two article1 article2
Introduction
Faith is the life from Christ that must possess us as children of God. The bible tells us that without it, we cannot please and with it, God is pleased with us.
We can see how Faith plays a vital role in our relationship with God. Glory to Jesus, it's a life that has been imparted unto us when we receive the word of CHRIST. Although, it's also essential that we know how to walk on this path of life so that we can enjoy God, and He can as well enjoy us.
The bible made us understand that temptation works patience in us. This means that patience is engaged when there is temptation, challenges, or stumbling blocks along the way.
I want us to understand that it is not God that brings all these ugly situations in our ways. It is the devil, and he is not expecting us to scale through those situations. He intends to bring us down to the earth and destroy our focus so that God's purpose and plans for our lives will not materialize.
But how God tests us is that He will not stop us from walking through it if it is the pathway He has purposes for you to follow.
Hallelujah, He will never leave us nor forsake us. This is so true that when we focus on Christ and what He has done during temptation, we will experience the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit, whom Christ has given to us. The Holy Spirit then begins to enable us by making manifest virtue in us, which will make us walk victoriously over any storm of life. For instance, one of the great virtue that is made manifest in us during temptation is Patience. Patience is an important virtue that must possess every believer if we will stay focused on God's purpose for our life.
What is Patience?
Patience is faith stretched over a long period. It can also be referred to as prolonged and enduring Faith. This happens when you just keep believing and believing, even when everything physical doesn't validate your belief. But Patience would make you stick to what you have heard of Christ when you received His word. Therefore, believing in God becomes a lifestyle.
A discussion with a colleague.
I had the following discussion with a colleague some time ago. The question that was raised is if you were asked to deny Jesus so that you can go free… Will you?
Surprisingly, my Christian colleague said yes, he will. He attempted to justify his claim that it is wise for you to deny Jesus at the very point, and then you later make it right with Him after you are released. He was already brainwashing people, and they were falling into some human manipulations already. So, I needed to cut in and told them this profound truth, ‘What is not worth dying for is not worth living for. If you don't start standing in faith in the face of intense persecution and temptation, you will never live and dwell in it.’
This is the major because we easily err and at every little opportunity to shame the devil, we disappoint Christ. The reason is that at every opportunity of temptation and persecution, we don't allow PATIENCE and FAITH to have their full course in our lives.
If you can start trusting the Holy Spirit and take your stand in faith at the point of a difficult situation, then you cannot live a life of Faith. Because all these situations are avenues God wants us to pass through so that faith can be released and established in us.
I believe one of the reasons the Apostles could stand for Christ is because they took advantage of persecution to be built up in Faith. Do you remember that famous quote from Apostle Peter, ‘we ought to obey God rather than men?’ Acts 5:29. Apostle Paul also said nothing whatsoever can separate him from the Love of Christ (Romans 8:35-36). These men have been stretched beyond the normal human limit,, and yet they stood by the grace of God. So, nothing can just move them away from the truth of Christ.
God wants to work out patience in us such that faith becomes a lifestyle through which we can enjoy our relationship with God. So that God can be able to pour himself into the world through us.
