THEME: FAITH LIFE OF CHRISTIAN BELIEVERS (Part 30)
TOPIC: Elements of Faith 2
SPEAKER: Peter Ayoola Fakeye (PAF)
In this article, we will be considering the third element of faith from the life of the patriarch. To go through the previous ones mentioned, you can check the previous article.
The third element is that they surrender to the truth of what they saw. The bible (from the text) made us understand that they embraced what God revealed to them. These believing patriarchs “embraced” the promises as their own. They surrendered and committed themselves to the truth they saw. They cut the ties that bound them to the present world in which they lived, and gave themselves over to that which God said was to belong to them and their descendants in the generations to come. Seeing how the patriarch lived their lives, I discovered that it will be very difficult to welcome and embrace God's project when we are engrossed with our personal agenda and project. We are not just on this earth to eat and drink; to dance and play; to marry and give birth! There is a kingdom purpose that Christ has established through His cross which we must key ourselves into and surrender to.
I want us to consider a man of God that also pattern himself as this patriarch did. I am talking about Apostle Paul. This is a man that has degrees and also a very good business - we can actually tell that Paul was a wealthy Man. This same man single-handedly finances his outreaches, crusades and programs. He also came from an influential family, and he was everything to reckon with when we look at him from a natural point of view. But Paul was a focus man just like Abraham and the other patriarchs because they saw something that which was beyond the material, and they surrender their lives to it.
Paul understand that there is a purpose that God has called him into. Actually it takes faith for you to see God's purpose in the midst of this perverted world such that every day, the light of His glory can increase in our lives and the beauty of His holiness and awesomeness can be evident in our experiences. Jesus really need to possess us entirely – this is exactly what it means that we are apprehended of Christ. For Paul, he understands that he is not the owner of himself and there is a purpose that God will want to achieve in us.
Friends! How can we be possessed by the God of Love and we are not manifesting His Love? How can we be possessed by the God of all Grace, and we are not walking in His Grace?
Brethren! We need to empty ourselves so that Christ can fill us. There is more in Christ we need to carry. Paul said that he has not yet attained so there is no stopping for him. This is a life that is motivated by Faith in Christ. And this is achieved by surrendering ourselves to the Holy Spirit. Let Him fill you and occupy you to the overflow.
