THEME: FAITH LIFE OF CHRISTIAN BELIEVERS (Part 31)
TOPIC: Elements of Faith 3
SPEAKER: Peter Ayoola Fakeye (PAF)
Today we will be discussing about the fourth element of their faith. You can check the other elements we have discussed in the previous article
4. “There is always a disposition and conduct that emanate when we surrender to what we have seen by Faith.”
The Patriarch surrendered to what they've seen, and so they declare openly that they are stranger and pilgrim on the Earth. They were not shy about what they have seen. They were not of those that draws back! (Hebrew 10:38-39). If we have been shy of professing and letting people know of our faith in Christ, then we have not started operating in faith. Nobody would see his portion in Christ and shy back! It's not possible except if we have not been seeing by Faith. These men publicly declared about their stand on what they have seen.
Friends! The Holy Spirit is there to help you. You just need to start with simple believe on what Christ has done. You need to start making the Gospel personal, such that 'it was for me he died, buried, rose and ascended physically to heaven. And so as He is, so am I in this world. He is now my representative!' We need to start making the Gospel personal, because until that we can't be confident about it in the public. But if the gospel is personal to you, then irrespective of what is happening around, you will still have this sited belief in your heart that Christ is our representative; my lot and my portion. When a man does not have this deep rooted belief in himself, he will definitely shy back in the public.
The bible also made us understand that the patriarch embraced what they have seen. So it is not about you having head knowledge and knowing all the biblical exegesis correctly, but the question is “how have you been reacting to what you have seen about Christ?” Have you surrendered to it? When we say we surrender to something; it simply means we are taken over by that thing. It also means we don't have any opinion apart from who/what we have surrendered to. What we have seen about Christ's death and resurrection needs to be our only option, such that irrespective of what is happening around, we’ll stand in it.
From the above scripture, Apostle John is telling us what our hope is in Christ Jesus. He said 'he can't really explain how we will look like with words, but this one thing you must be confident is that when we shall see Him, we shall look exactly like Him. That is, in our body, soul and Spirit, we will be exactly like the resurrected Christ.' Hallelujah! Just take a pause and think about how Christ is right now (I want u to be intentional about this). Just think about what/who can stop Christ now. Just think about what Christ is deficient of (I believe you will find nothing to think about). Only if we can be conscious of the promised life we have in Christ, we won’t get defiled and polluted by the impurities in this world.
We see many believers today have been living sensually instead of living by Faith. We get so easily distracted and that's why we get tormented by what the world is facing. We fall into depression, hate, suicidal thoughts because we just think our life is just a definition of what we can achieve on this Earth. Our sense of judgement has been affected also, and so we rate people by the carnal things they have and we feel because of that such persons are doing well. Therefore, if you place your value, priority and worth on mundane thing, then you have not actually understand the value of what you have received in Christ. Am I against riches? No! I am for it to the fullest. I believe this are addendum of the work of grace that is supplied to us so that we can be able to profit with it as regards the Gospel. But what I am saying is that all these mundane things should not anyway take our focus to the extent that we begin to define ourselves and other people by it.
I believe God is really wanting to refocus many Christian because many Christians have been living in lust for so many years. God really want to purify our thought with the hope of the promised life.
