Faith makes sense
The Bible tells us that Abraham was as good as dead! The death the bible was referring to is the physical death- Abraham was already dying. At that point, everyone must have written him off because no one would expect him to bear a child. But this man, Abraham kept his faith on God and what He has said concerning him. So when he was dying, he knew there was nothing to lean on in term of the flesh. It doesn't make sense for him to have depended on His strength; but the only thing that make sense was to depend on the all sufficient God. The reason it looks our self-effort and self-reliance make sense to us is because we are still alive to the flesh.
This scenario also brings a picture of what Christ Jesus experienced on the cross.
When Jesus was on the cross, people were tempting him to save himself. He was tempted to engage self-effort to help himself out of the situation He’s found Himself. One thing we must know is that the devil will always come at you just to revive yourself and make it active. Sometimes, he shows you your friends, where they have already reached. Then he begins to make you to compare yourself with another. As a result, you start entertaining different thought and suggestions on how to help yourself out, and all these thoughts and ideas negate God's Destiny for your life. Jesus was dying on the cross, but faith makes sense to Jesus that He knows that His Father is going to raise Him from the dead.
Romans 6:10-11 NKJV
From the above scripture, the bible made us understand that Jesus died to sin; this means He settle the issue of sin. Sin is no more a barrier because He’s conquered it on our behalf once and for all! Therefore, there was nothing that could have stopped Him from rising up from the grave. Hallelujah! Sin and death has been destroyed by Christ Jesus, and He rose victoriously over them all-now He lives forevermore.
In the same manner, we are to reckon ourselves dead Indeed to sin. The problem many people have is that they say they want to kill flesh, or they try to persuade God to kill their flesh. That's a waste of time for such prayer. You just need to start seeing yourself in the light of the cross-that you are dead already! As long as you are this world, you have your flesh with you but you can deprive it of its influence by subjecting yourself to be conscious of what Christ has done. You need to start seeing yourself in Christ from the start to the finish, that is, you were dead with Him, and right now you are living with Him.
The reason we find it easy to leave God beyond our equation is because we are not reckoning ourselves dead to sin. Faith won’t actually make sense to us when we don’t start seeing ourselves in the complete work of redemption.
Even if you start praying from now till tomorrow for God to kill your flesh, you’ll just be wasting precious prayer time, instead the prayer I believe every believer should constantly be praying is that God should make them see Christ and to have an understanding of what He has done. Then we will be able to see our position with Him.
