Faith Life 12 (FAITH BUILDS OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD)
GRACE ABOUNDS ONLINE BIBLE STUDY
THEME: FAITH LIFE OF CHRISTIAN BELIEVERS (Part 12)
TOPIC: FAITH BUILDS OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
SPEAKER: Peter Ayoola Fakeye (PAF)
The first thing I will want us to note is that what makes Faith really Faith, is the object of our Faith, Which is Christ Jesus. Therefore, when I use the word Faith, I mean faith in the person of Christ and what He has done for us.
Hebrew 11:5; Genesis 5:22-24
What Apostle Paul called Faith in Hebrew 11 is the same thing as 'walk with God' which Genesis recorded of Enoch. It takes faith to walk with God. We have seen in our previous discussion that, faith in Christ transcends what we can feel, taste, smell, see or hear. That is, it is beyond our five physical senses. Therefore, for us as christian believers, to rise above all what this physical world is throwing at us and engage a walk with the Lord, then it must have taken Faith in the person of Jesus.
We had a report from the scripture that the generation which Enoch lived with was stackly against God and His work. But In the face of molestation and persecution; difficulty and trials, Enoch always see God with him. This is what it means to walk with God, such that in the face of intimidation, economic crisis, insecurities and pandemic, you are always concious of the abiding presence of God.
Enoch was concious of God's presence; he was concious that he is not alone. Although, He was virtually the only one that yielded to God at his time, but that doesn't stop him from walking with God, because he is in Faith with God and he saw Him always with Him.
How is your Faith? And how is your walk? Walk has to do with the relationship you have with the triune God. We'll also see something very important here that, Enoch believed God to the point that he could be with God. His walk with God had developed confidence in him that he could believe that God could be able to take him without experiencing natural death. It's kinda difficult to believe something like that, except you have had a thorough walk with God. 'Cause Death was the usual thing, it was what had been happening all around him. It will also be difficult for us to believe that we won't be affected by what people around us is being affected with, if we don't start engaging faith and allow it to drive your relationship with God.
Galatians 5:4-6
Here, we'll see how legalism ensnares men from depending on Christ for life, instead, they depend on their frailty. We must know that the Law is engaged when you depend on your ability to earn God's mercy and grace. For instance, did Enoch has wings or the translating power in himself to be with the Lord? No! He couldn't have avoided death by His own effort. But faith has built his dependency on God's grace and power to the extent that he believed he could avoid death, thereby, releasing himself to be taken up by God. Brethren! God has never had a problem blessing us. Infact, He has supplied us what we need already because of Christ and what He has done. The problem is we have not been engaging faith in Christ, and this has affected our dependency on God.
Faith is not something you engage when you are in a difficult situation alone. It is a life of staying with God. The Bible says that, "we have become estranged from Christ when we go by legalism" (Galatians 5:4-5). This means that when our dependency is not on Christ, then we are eliminating the effect of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Brothers and sister, there is a working inside of us by the Holy Spirit, when we are yielding to the Lord Jesus. Let's learn a deep lesson from the life of Enoch, that he yielded to God by believing in His ways. He believed in God's agenda for His life and he had a walk with God. Do you care about God's agenda for your life?
I am sure God still loves you and this is why He is bringing this teaching across your way. He want to fellowship with you, to the extent that you will not be affected and distracted by what is going on around the world. Instead, your heart and mind will be fix on our savior and friend. If you have not been yielding to Jesus, you can start now. Enoch started walking with God at the age of 65, and he had a wonderful encounter with God.
In conclusion, I want to tell you that, the encounter Enoch had is far Inferior with the encounter we now have in Christ, where we have been infused with the life of God Himself.
God bless you,
